Too much of a good thing is still too much. Ever struggle with just how much of a food you should eat? The following lists appropriate portion sizes, and easy, everyday ways to determine the right amount of food.

3 ounce meat = size and thickness of a deck of cards

3 ounce fish = size of a checkbook

1 ounce cheese = size of four dice or three black dominoes

1 teaspoon butter or peanut butter = size of an adult thumb tip (from the tip of the thumb to the first joint)

1 cup chopped vegetables = size of a light bulb

1 cup pasta/rice = size of a baseball

1 cup dry cereal = heaping or large handful (adult)
